Jusan Programmers Teach IT Basics to Rural Children for Free

Programmers of the digital block at Jusan Bank hold free master classes on the IT basics for village children and teach them coding and web design. Our Auyl.go project helps them.

Thus, the project already has its first graduates — 17 students from Karasaz village is Almaty Oblast and 11 from Talapty village in Zhambyl Oblast.

The main project mission is to ensure that children from remote villages can learn programming and enable them to unleash their potential, for the mobile IT school also assists in professional orientation of the younger generation of Kazakhstanis.

Auyl.go was started up by Abzal Kozhakhmet, a 23-year-old front-end developer of the Jusan business department, and his team of 15 people. According to Abzal, he was inspired by a similar project for teaching rural children also funded by Jusan and decided to help schoolchildren develop in the area he is an expert in.

‘I heard about Kuka Beisekov's project ‘Kel, balalar, okylyk’ supported by our bank. I liked the purpose and mission of the project. Children from remote villages received free training in creative professions and, as a result, they made a ‘thesis’ work by filming a video and staging a performance. This cool project inspired me. I came up with the idea to my colleague Kairat Sadykov to teach programming to children for free. That’s how Auyl.go emerged, more people joined, and we started working,’ says Abzal.

In addition, the Auyl.go project also has a condition for writing a ‘thesis’ work — students need to show what they have learned during the master class and create a website about their native village or school.

After graduation, the children receive certificates and practical tools, as well as advice on how to develop further in the profession and what resources are needed to this end. In the future, students can stay in touch with their mentors, who advise them on the development of the sites they have created.
