Jusan Bank JSC Acceded to the UN Global Compact


On January 31, 2023, Jusan Bank JSC officially acceded to the UN Global Compact — the largest corporate sustainable development initiative in the world in effect since 2000 that unites 21k+ companies and organisations across the globe.

By signing ten universal principles of the UN Global Compact, Jusan Bank JSC is emphasising its proactive stance in protecting the environment, respecting labour standards and human rights, combating bribery and supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

During the accession, Jusan Bank JSC sent an official letter to the UN Secretary-General enshrining its intention to implement the UN Global Compact principles in its operations. Jusan Bank JSC shall disclose its achievements on an annual basis.

Mr. Nurdaulet Aidossov, CEO at Jusan Bank JSC, noted: ‘Acceding to the UN Global Compact is a plain evidence that Jusan Bank JSC is keen to assume high-level commitments and adhere to the best sustainable business practices. Bearing in mind an ongoing active ESG implementation phase at the Bank, we are poised to promote win-win sustainable development partnerships so as to deal with long-term social and environmental challenges. The UN Global Compact creates openings for sharing the sustainable development experience and the best practices.’

For reference: Jusan Bank is a financially sound bank that is on a par with the largest banks in the country, leading in terms of the capital to assets ratio and ranking third when it comes to the equity among the biggest banks in Kazakhstan. As of today, the Bank assets made up KZT 2.8T, while liquid assets comprised KZT 1.4T. The last year net profit amounted to KZT 82.5B. The Bank equity is KZT 542B. The Bank also has a capital stock of KZT 359B.

In 2022, the Bank assessed direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions as sourced from in-house operations. Furthermore, S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment newly assessed Jusan Bank's sustainable development efforts, scoring 27 for the Governance & Economic Dimension, 11 for the Environmental Dimension, and 24 for the Social Dimension.
